Zauchensee is a high alpine ski and mountain village at 1,350 m above sea level in the Salzburger Land in the municipality of Altenmarkt in Pongau and part of Ski amadé. The ski paradise Zauchensee–Flachauwinkl is considered particularly snow-safe and regularly hosts the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup for Women in the speed disciplines of downhill and super-G.

The Moon Path in Zauchensee is a round 4 km long themed path, which starts directly in the center at the Welcome Gate. On this family-friendly circular route around the lake and through the forest, you will discover fascinating and mystical things about our Earth’s satellite at over 20 interactive stations – playful and easy to understand.

Children can romp at the Moon Playground while adults can feel the special effects of the moon at moon gymnastics or massage stations. A highlight is the weekly Stars Watching at the Lake Shore with a view through the telescope.

With a walking time of about 2 hours and stroller-friendly paths, the Moon Path is perfect for families and nature lovers.

Arrival in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee

  • By car via the A10 Tauern Autobahn, exit Altenmarkt. Then continue for 10 kilometers on the federal road into the Zauchensee high valley.
  • Public transport: Take the train to Altenmarkt im Pongau or Radstadt, then continue by bus or taxi to Zauchensee.
  • Flight: Salzburg Airport (SZG), then approximately 1 hour transfer to Zauchensee
