Location of Zauchensee

Zauchensee is located at 1,350 metres above sea level in the province of Salzburg and is located in the heart of Salzburger Sportwelt and the biggest ski association in Austria - Ski amadé. The altitude provides air that is particularly clear and fresh as well as guaranteed snow in the winter, and thus the best conditions for your ski holiday.

Arriving by car

  • A10 Tauern motorway to Ennstal junction, exit 63 - Altenmarkt
  • Follow the E651/B320 towards Altenmarkt/B99/Graz
  • Drive to the town centre and turn right to the marketplace/the church and then left into Zauchenseestrasse
  • Follow Zauchensseestrasse for about 10-15 minutes until you arrive at the World Cup resort of Zauchensee.

Tip

  • All the roads are kept well clear in winter, but snow chains may be required in heavy snow.
  • Motorway tax stickers are obligatory on all autobahns in Austria (motorway tax stickers are available at rest and service stations)
  • Some additional charges for tunnels or tolls may be incurred
  • Reflective jackets are compulsory for all passengers in the car

Leave the car parked

During your holiday in Zauchensee you can have confidence in leaving the car parked, because here there's "ski in - ski out" - from your apartment or hotel to the slopes. And even in summer you can walk directly from your accommodation in the Salzburg mountains or use the free hiking bus.

Arriving by train

The nearest express train stations are Radstadt (15 km) and Bischofshofen (37 km). Trains stop at these two destination stations several times a day from Salzburg and southern Germany (Munich, Augsburg, Stuttgart, Ulm). There is even a direct EC connection to Radstadt and Bischoshofen from Switzerland (Zurich).

Arriving by plane

Travel comfortably by plane to W.A. Mozart Airport in Salzburg (80 km) or Franz Josef Strauss Airport in Munich (248 km). The onward journey can then be made by public transport, rental car or by airport transfer.
