On the 180 km large interconnected trail network around Altenmarkt-Zauchensee you can experience the fascination of Nordic sports amidst a stunning winter landscape. Whether classic or skating – here you will find routes for beginners, connoisseurs, and ambitious athletes alike.
The trail network connects Altenmarkt (850 m) with Zauchensee (1,350 m), offering varied routes at two altitude levels. While Altenmarkt impresses with gentle trails in the wide valley, you can enjoy the more challenging high-altitude trail in clear mountain air in Zauchensee. This way, you can switch at will between relaxed enjoyment and sporting challenges.

The 3.1 km long toboggan run Sonnalm in Zauchensee can be reached on foot via the Strimsalmweg in approximately 1 hour.
Particularly popular is the toboggan run at Hochbifang in Altenmarkt. After a cozy stay at the Bifei-Hütte or Winterbauerhütte, you can glide down into the valley.
The ascent can be accomplished on foot during a small winter hike or quite comfortably with the toboggan taxi. Toboggans are readily available on-site, allowing you to start spontaneously – ideal for families or groups.
